Technology Integration:

The teacher will introduce –ar verbs by presenting video on how to establish the endings of –ar verbs.

As each vocabulary lesson is introduced, students will also create their own virtual flashcards using Flashcard Machine transitioning the vocabulary list to flashcards using words, images or symbols of their choosing. Students will also maintain their virtual flashcards throughout the term. The first vocabulary lesson introduces personal pronouns and hablar (to speak), as shown in the video.

Writing is an integral part of learning a foreign language and students will immediately begin writing by creating his or her own internet blog. Students can record details about their lives, and what he or she is learning in class, his or her favorite foods, or other information as their vocabulary increases. Students edit this blog throughout the term, and the blog can be adjusted for grade level by limiting number of entries (1 per week, 1 biweekly, 25 over a full term, etc.) and the number of words required per blog.

At the end of the term, the teacher will play the Jeopardy Powerpoint with the students to assess their mastery of the vocabulary and conjugating present tense –ar verbs.
